Comparing Denver ADU builders (2026)

LAST VERIFIED: SEPTEMBER 2026 · SOURCES: EACH COMPANY'S PUBLISHED MATERIALS · LISTINGS FREE, NOT A RANKING

Direct answer: There is no single "better" Denver ADU builder, only a better fit for a specific project. The useful comparison is by type: design-build ADU specialists (one contract, design through move-in), general contractors that build ADUs among other residential work, prefab and modular providers (fixed unit price, fast on-site build), and basement or garage conversion specialists. The table below sets all listed Denver builders side by side on the facts they state about themselves. It is not a ranking, and it is not a substitute for the checks in choosing a builder.

"Design-build in-house" means the company states it handles design and construction under one contract. "n/a" marks entries that are directories or networks rather than builders. Corrections: ops@thecitedguide.com.

§2 · HOW TO COMPARE ANY TWO

The five questions that make "X vs. Y" answerable

  1. Same project type? A basement specialist against a modular provider isn't a comparison; pick two that build what you're building.
  2. Same jurisdiction experience? Ask each for their last five ADU permits by city. Denver, Lakewood, and Arvada are different codes.
  3. Same quote scope? Itemize both quotes to the same line items. A unit price against a project price is the most common false comparison in this market.
  4. Same verification? License, insurance, and two references over a year old, for both. See how to verify.
  5. Who holds the risk? Fixed-price contract, allowances, change-order process, and what happens if a slab or soil surprise appears. The answers separate builders faster than portfolios do.

Two specific comparisons homeowners ask about most often: modular vs. site-built is covered in prefab vs. site-built; basement specialist vs. general ADU builder is covered in basement ADUs.
